WC 517: Total Mobility operations

This page relates to the 2024-27 National Land Transport Programme.

Introduction

 Work category 517 provides for door-to-door subsidised taxi or specialist transport provider trips for people with disabilities, and includes the administration, maintenance and operation of facilities and equipment associated with the Total Mobility scheme.

Qualifying activities

Work category 517 is available to the public transport services activity class.

Public transport services and infrastructure

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

• contracting and management of Total Mobility agencies and operators
• registration, assessment, and allocation of cards or vouchers, and management of scheme members
• the ongoing operation, maintenance and management of technology-based systems required for the Total Mobility scheme
• the operation of community transport schemes where the users of the service are people who would be eligible for the Total Mobility scheme.

Exclusions

Work category 517 excludes:

• the ongoing operation, maintenance and management of public transport-related, technology-based systems – these are funded from work category 524.
  Work category 524: public transport information, supply and maintenance
• the ongoing operation, maintenance and management of electronic information and data management systems – these are funded from work category 525.
  Work category 525: public transport technology systems - operations and maintenance

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate (FAR) is the approved organisation's approved FAR for Total Mobility activities.

Approved organisations submit these activities using the public transport continuous programmes template in Transport Investment Online (TIO).
