Qualifying activities

Qualifying activities comprise ongoing operations, maintenance and renewal of public transport technology systems that support delivery of public transport services.

Work category 525 is available to the public transport services activity class.

Public transport services and infrastructure

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • operation and maintenance of public transport technology systems, including:
    • electronic ticketing systems
    • real-time information systems
    • on-vehicle systems
    • data and information management
    • business intelligence and reporting systems
    • customer apps and information systems
  • ‘like for like’ renewal of existing technology systems and equipment.

‘Like for like’ is defined as providing modern equipment and technology at the minimum performance to deliver the continuous delivery of systems functionality; for example hardware and software at the lowest performance specification necessary to operate for the life of the assets. Enhancements beyond that are improvements.
