Introduction

Work category 524 provides for public transport operations and management activities that support delivery of public transport services.

Qualifying activities

Qualifying activities comprise public transport operations and management activities that support delivery of public transport services.

Work category 524 is available to the public transport services activity class.

Public transport services and infrastructure

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

• routine updates to the regional public transport plan or other public transport planning documents, including:
  • updating the specification of units and integral public transport services
  • updating asset and infrastructure information
  • updating statistical records and forecasts
• preparation and production of reports, including user satisfaction surveys to inform the government or the public
• marketing and promotional activities including ongoing travel demand management and behaviour change activities
• operation of call centres.

You can discuss with us (NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi as investor) whether other potential activities not listed above might also be eligible for inclusion in this work category.

Exclusions

Work category 524 excludes:

• operations and maintenance of public transport technology systems – these are funded from work category 525 or 517
  work category 525: public transport technology systems - operations and maintenance
  work category 517: Total Mobility operations

• review of public transport planning documents where public consultation is required – this should be funded from work category 003.
  Work category 003: activity management planning improvement

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate (FAR) is:

• the approved organisation's normal FAR.
  Normal funding assistance rates

Submitting activities for National Land Transport Programme consideration and funding approval

Approved organisations submit these activities using:

• the public transport continuous programmes template in Transport Investment Online (TIO)
  Transport Investment Online(external link)

or

• the improvement template in TIO.
