Supporting the development of Auckland’s new future urban growth areas over the next 30-plus years.
Well-connected communities enjoy lots of transport options. Public transport, walking and cycling networks and new and improved roads will give people lots of options to move around safely and easily via a sustainable transport network.
Extending public transport connections and offering safe, accessible and sustainable travel choices, to serve future communities and to take action on climate change, is at the heart of the North West’s long-term transport network.
Auckland Council Healthy Waters has undertaken a review following the flooding that affected Kumeū and Huapai in August 2021. As a result of that review they updated their flood models and revised the floodplains to consider future urban development and published a report on this in early 2025.
Between March and June 2025, Te Tupu Ngātahi Supporting Growth reconsidered the alternative sites, routes and methods that were undertaken. A comprehensive report has been prepared responding to the Healthy Waters Kumeū flood investigation and associated updated rainfall data and climate change guidance.
