Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has published the findings of the report it commissioned into whether the Waiheke Island ferry service between downtown Auckland and Matiatia Ferry Terminal (Waiheke Island) can legally be required to be provided under contract to Auckland Transport under the Land Transport Management Act 2003. The report was commissioned in August 2022 and completed in November 2022.
The consultant’s report is one input into the review Waka Kotahi is undertaking. The views and conclusions reached in the report are those of the consultant. As of 19 July 2023, the investigation is ongoing and Waka Kotahi has yet to reach a position on whether the criteria have been met.
