To maintain consistent data standards, the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency controls and maintains lookup codes that are used to describe various elements of the road corridor. This page lists the lookup codes that have recently been added to the state highway database.

You can access all current and up to date data collection forms and lookup codes on the MyRoads wiki. These lookup forms are automatically updated from RAMM at the beginning of every month. If you are entering data during a lookup update cycle, you can refresh the spreadsheet to obtain all RAMM lookup codes current to that date. You can do this by clicking on Data > Refresh All.

MyRoads wiki(external link)

A full list of lookup codes can be viewed directly in the state highway database or by following the My Roads wiki link above.

If there is no allowable code available for the data you are collecting or updating or you have a question about existing codes, please contact the Data Management Team at National Office, email sm050@nzta.govt.nz to log the request.

If you'd like to be notified when new lookup codes are added to this page, please register your interest by emailing to sm050@nzta.govt.nz

Drainage

  • Data requirement changes
    • Depth of cover is now conditional mandatory which means it is only required when the drainage asset is a culvert. Depth of cover is to be measured from the top of the culvert to the existing ground level.
    • drain_culvert is now conditional mandatory on the basis that it must be populated when the drain_type is culvert.
    • cul_width is also now conditional mandatory on the basis that it must be populated when the drain_type is culvert.
    • cul_area will no longer be specified as mandatory in Appendix 3: Asset Register (of SHDOM) as this field is automatically calculated by the software when other dimensions are entered.
    • Wway is no longer a mandatory field.

Rejuvenation seal

Surface enrichment and surface rejuvenation are different surface treatments.

Surface enrichment is a light application of binder, with no aggregate applied, sprayed over surfacing that are losing chip or have hard/brittle binder. The binder is not always aged and are usually emulsions with low bitumen contents (and can also be known as Fog Coat). These surfaces can be trafficked within a day or two of application.

Surface rejuvenation is a heavier application of binder, with small aggregate and is used as a bond on older/brittle existing binder. A consequence of this process is filling voids and coating the existing aggregate with binder hence additional aggregate is required to ensure macrotexture is maintained.

    Unfunded Rework

Rework is replacing (completely or partially) previously completed work due to poor construction, design, failure of original treatment (e.g. inadequate treatment) where contractual liability still exists. This does not include failure due to factors outside the supplier's control (e.g. weather event, third party damage etc.). The period for rework could be >12 months after initial construction, could include more than one replacement activity and should be identified based on how it is funded and agreed with Principal.
