In late 2019, Cabinet agreed to implement a significant change to New Zealand’s drug driving testing regime. Cabinet agreed to enhance the testing regime by introducing oral fluid testing for drug driving.
The purpose of this research was to identify the overall and distributional prevalence of drug driving in New Zealand at present and to inform a future evaluation of the impact of the new testing regime in reducing the prevalence of drug driving (a pre/post analysis).
