Waka Kotahi must approve general election signs that will be placed on or next to state highways and signs must comply with the Waka Kotahi general election sign guidance. Our guidance incorporates the requirements of the Electoral Regulations 2005. Ensuring that any signs you’re seeking approval for comply with our guidance will help to avoid delays in securing approval for your signs.
To request Waka Kotahi approval for signs on or near a state highway, or if you have any questions, email: environmentalplanning@nzta.govt.nz
Include a copy of your signs and where you’re intending to locate them. We’ll send you an initial response within 2 business days.
