This P45 specification gives effect to the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) Huia Kaimanawa – Heritage Policy for Land Transport Infrastructure, which sets out how we will manage, protect and conserve heritage.
This specification sets out the requirements for management of heritage throughout the life cycle of NZTA infrastructure projects: assessment, planning, design and pre-implementation; construction; and maintenance and operations, including emergency works. It also sets the requirements for heritage asset management. This is to meet statutory obligations and government policy.
The procedures contained in P45 are also designed to protect and conserve heritage and acknowledge the special relationship of Māori and Moriori regarding their land, water, sites, wāhi tapu and other taonga.
This version of the P45 specification supersedes the Accidental archaeological discovery specification.
