NZTA Wellington Transport Alliance will be resurfacing various sections of State Highway 2 Hutt Valley at night, between Petone and Totara Park. This will impact SH2 users and people who live in the Hutt Valley.
It’s expected works will be carried out on certain nights until December 2024, The indicative schedule will be updated on this page as and when possible. Works will be at night meaning local road detours – this is to avoid heavily disrupting traffic during the day.
Currently, there are various sections of the highway that are in poor condition so they must be resurfaced to make the highway better and safer for all road users. The road will have improved surface texture, skid-resistance and water-drainage properties.
The indicative works schedule is below, in order of works, with approximate timing only. Works schedules may change due to poor weather or other impacts on our schedule. Dates can very easily change, so timing is intentionally generic.
We only do roadworks and close the road on Sunday – Thursday nights. Friday and Saturday nights will always be open as normal.
Check digital signage and sign up for weekly roadworks updates to keep up-to-date on works dates and locations. Sign up for roadworks updates(external link) You can also check: NZTA Waka Kotahi – Wellington Facebook page(external link) or X(external link) |
