The Mackays to Peka Peka route is an important part of the Wellington Northern Corridor which runs from Wellington Airport to Levin.
The $630 million Mackays to Peka Peka project will deliver approximately 18km of four-lane expressway through Paraparaumu and Waikanae, including a new bridge over the Waikanae River.
The new route will take approximately four years to complete and will improve safety, reduce congestion and provide more reliable journey times into and through Kāpiti.
