Waitematā Harbour Connections is a substantial city-shaping undertaking, and feedback from the community and stakeholders—along with other key factors—helps with decision making and contributes to the development of the project.

2023 engagement
From 30 March to 1 May, 2023, with the Waitematā Harbour Connections project team asked people throughout the country to provide feedback via an online survey on potential scenarios and options.
Team members also attended more than 20 community events throughout Tāmaki Makaurau, held numerous workshops with key stakeholders and community groups, one-on-one briefings, as well as an online webinar session.

2022 engagement
An initial survey to understand people’s vision for this transformational transport programme and the future of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland occurred between November 2022 and January 2023.We asked for people’s views about the Waitematā Harbour Connections project with questions on how people want to travel in future across the harbour, and to understand what is important to communities along the route.
We received 4389 survey responses and met with more than 1200 people at six events on both sides of the Waitematā. Overall, there was strong support for the project. While 30% of people currently cross the harbour using public transport, 88% said they would catch a bus or train if they could.
