St Lukes to Great North Rd project is jointly funded with Auckland Transport & NZ Transport Agency. The project is widening a section of the Northwestern motorway (SH16), upgrading the St Lukes Rd interchange and walking & cycling facilities. It's a key component in completing the Western Ring Route
The St Lukes to Great North Road project involves widening a 2km section of the Northwestern motorway and at the St Lukes Road interchange improving the Northwestern cycleway, motorway ramps and widening the overbridge to benefit drivers, walkers and cyclists. This project is a key part of the Western Ring Route which once complete, will provide an alternative to SH1, central Auckland and the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
The St Lukes cycleway safety improvements will make it safer and easier for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the motorway ramps and St Lukes Road, and connect to the popular SH16 Northwestern Cycleway.
