We have made changes to calm traffic and improve safety in Ashhurst. The changes that have been made were developed with input from the community and key stakeholders. The project is now complete.
There is a lot more traffic travelling through Ashhurst since the State Highway 3 Manawatū Gorge route closed.
We have made changes to improve safety and help reduce noise in the town until Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway opens.
The changes were developed in partnership with Palmerston North City Council and local residents. We held community information sessions and met with residents living in the streets where the changes were to be made to get their feedback on our plans.
Although this project is now complete, we will continue to monitor the SH3 detour via Ashshurst till Te Ahau a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway is open.
