As part of the first stage of the SH1 Papakura to Drury project, five gantries have been installed above the SH1 Southern Motorway.
This video captures the installation of the largest gantry in early August – it spans over 50 metres and crosses six lanes of motorway, which required a full motorway closure with a 160T crane on site for installation.
Route and destination signage have since been added to the gantry, which is also future-proofed for carrying electronic signage.
