Watchman Road intersection project celebration
The Hawke’s Bay Community took the opportunity to walk and cycle the new Watchman Road causeway on September 16th 2018 as part of a special event organised by the Transport Agency to celebrate the completion of the roading project.
The event was not only a way to celebrate the roading improvements, but also a chance to thank local residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period.
Following formal speeches, the public were able to experience the new cycling and walking paths, take walking tours with the project team and wildlife experts and hear first-hand from the sculptor responsible for the amazing artwork.
Children enjoyed the chance to sit on diggers, have their faces painted and cycle over an obstacle course.
