Photo competition winners

Congratulations to our Photography Competition for Schools, Photographic Excellence winners.

Amateur photographers aged between five and 18 years old, were invited to take a photograph in Newmarket during August that included any aspect of the Newmarket Viaduct, to win fabulous prizes worth a total value of $4,000.

Maxine Freeman from St Cuthbert’s College won both the TSB Photographic Excellence 16 to 18 year age category, and the Westfield and NGA Newmarket Grand Prize for her stunning night time shot.

Overview

Already the Newmarket Viaduct Replacement Project team has established strong links with nine schools from the surrounding area, and is committed to ensuring all local kids have the opportunity to benefit from having a world leading project delivered literally on their doorstep.

From learning about the huge engineering and business complexities inherent in projects such as these from the international project team, to finding out more about the local heritage and landscape and how Newmarket was formed by the surrounding volcanoes, there is plenty to discover.

All our senior project staff are on hand to address school groups about their chosen vocation or aspects of the project, either out at schools or in our own Visitors' Centre.

And for those of a more artistic persuasion, there are a myriad of creative opportunities ahead, such as the art and photo exhibitions to be displayed on our site hoardings and inside the Visitors' Centre.
