One of the groups that were part of March 2023 Otago Cavalcade, travels along a temporary section of SH8 built to accommodate construction of the new Beaumont Bridge.
The Cavalcade group crossing the 136-year-old existing single lane Beaumont Bridge. This was the sort of traffic that first used the bridge when it opened in March 1887.

    A temporary road being formed to carry State Highway traffic highway traffic to the existing bridge, this will allow new bridge related work on SH8 past the Beaumont Hotel.
    Another section is completed on the temporary work platform (Staging) over the river that’ll be used by construction plant to build the new bridge.
