Te Ara o Te Ata – Mt Messenger Bypass update: Te Ara o Te Ata is making great strides on multiple fronts, including recently collecting two awards for its groundbreaking environmental and construction efforts.
The project was awarded the Environmental Excellence award from the International Erosion Control Association, which recognised the Mt Messenger Alliance’s work to protect the surrounding environment and waterways, and the Excellence in Onsite/Management Innovation award at the Civil Contractors New Zealand Technology and Innovation Awards, which recognised the concept, construction, and operation of the project’s 1.1-kilometre cableway. The cableway is used daily to transport machinery, materials, and workers into the remote heart of the project.
We chatted with Megan Dredge, the project's Erosion and Sediment Control Lead, and one of the valued wahine of the Mt Messenger Alliance – to hear more about the work she's doing in these areas.
