Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has set new permanent speed limits on State Highway 5 and State Highway 30 in urban Rotorua.
The safety improvement project on 5km SH51 between Napier and Hastings has now been completed. Safety treatments included a new roundabout, flexible median barrier, side barrier and wider centrelines.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is undertaking two speed reviews in Hawke’s Bay. These are SH51 from Marine Parade to Waipatu and SH5 from Napier through to Taupō.
We’re reviewing speed limits on State Highway 56 (SH56) through Longburn village and between Longburn and Palmerston North.
Waka Kotahi wants everyone who uses SH56 between Palmerston North and Ōpiki to get where they are going safely. One way we can do this is by reviewing the current speed limits on the road.
Safety improvements on State Highway 57 (SH57) from the SH1 intersection to Heatherlea East Road include a new roundabout at the Queen St/SH57 intersection, edge barriers, and wider centrelines. Plus, a review of the speed limits on SH57 from SH1 to Shannon.
State Highway 58 runs between State Highway 2 and Paremata. This Crown-funded project is a Road of Regional Significance that aims to improve safety and reliability of the section of road, between SH2 and Transmission Gully.
Traffic volumes on State Highway 59 and State Highway 58 between Paremata and Pāuatahanui have changed since Transmission Gully Motorway - Te Aranui o Te Rangihaeata opened. Waka Kotahi is looking at the function of these roads and what each corridor could look like in future.
