Introduction
Work category 511 provides for contracted bus public transport services that are set out in the current regional public transport plan (RPTP) prepared in accordance with Part 5 of the Land Transport Management Act 2003.

Qualifying activities
Work category 511 is available to the public transport services activity class.
Public transport services and infrastructure
Examples of qualifying activities
Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:
- Preparation and management of contracts and monitoring of services
- contracted bus services payments
- contracted shared on-demand services identified in RPTPs as integral to the public transport network
- on-vehicle costs associated with provision for people with disabilities, cycles and prams
- on-vehicle installation and operational costs associated with public transport technology where included as part of the service contract
- minor service variations, trial services and improvements consistent with the public transport units in the currently adopted RPTP
- new service improvements provided these are consistent with the public transport units in the currently adopted RPTP
- the management costs and overheads associated with activities funded under this work category.

Exclusions
Work category 511 excludes:
- costs associated with the development or management and operations of public transport technology external to the vehicle itself
- any SuperGold card concessions for bus services – these are funded via work category 522
