 Work category 211 provides for the planned periodic renewal of pavement layers, including top surface metal, on unsealed roads.

Qualifying activitiesBack to top

Work category 211 is available to the following activity classes:

• local road maintenance
• state highway maintenance

Local road and state highway maintenance

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

• planned periodic renewal of pavement layers, including top surface metal, on unsealed roads for the purpose of either:
  • replacing wearing coarse aggregate, or
  • restoring pavement strength.

You can discuss with us (Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency as investor) whether other potential activities not listed above might also be eligible for inclusion in this work category.

Exclusions

The work category excludes:

• spot metalling of pavements, which is funded under work category 112.
  Work category 112: Unsealed roads pavement maintenance

Funding assistance rateBack to top

The usual funding assistance rate (FAR) is:

• the approved organisation's normal FAR
  Normal funding assistance rates

or

• the approved organisation's special purpose roads maintenance FAR
  Other funding assistance rates

or

• 100% of Waka Kotahi state highway costs.

Approved organisations and Waka Kotahi (for its own activities) submit these activities using the maintenance, operations and renewals module in Transport Investment Online (TIO).
