Road safety promotion programmes target road safety problems with the aim of reducing deaths and serious injuries from crashes through education, advertising and promotion activities. Demand management promotion targets a shift to public transport, walking and cycling through education promotion and advertising. The programmes of activities, or components of the programmes, are assessed under Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency's Investment Assessment Framework.
Assessment of walking and cycling improvement activities
Walking and cycling improvement activities are investment proposals that target a specific increase in levels of service in part of a walking and/or cycling network and are delivered as projects. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency's Investment Assessment Framework is applied at either a programme or individual project level for walking and cycling activities.
Assessment of public transport, rapid transit and transitional rail improvement activities
Public transport, rapid transit and transitional rail improvements are investment proposals over $1,000,000 implementation cost per activity that target a specific increase in levels of service in part of a public transport network and are delivered as either infrastructure or improved services projects. Each improvement project is assessed under Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency's Investment Assessment Framework.
