This page relates to the 2012-15 NLTP only.
This section provides information, processes and procedures to assist Approved Organisations and the Transport Agency in developing road safety promotion activities in line with the Safer Journeys strategy.
This activity class promotes the safe use of the land transport network through education, advertising, raising awareness and public information activities.
Funding for road safety promotion activities is usually approved as a single allocation covering the programme of activities to be delivered in an NLTP. A breakdown of the amount requested and its contribution to strategic fit must be entered into Transport Investment Online and updated as variations are agreed with the Transport Agency.

Outsourced road safety promotion activities must be procured using an approved procurement procedure as described in the Approved Organisation’s or the Transport Agency’s endorsed procurement strategy.
If an Approved Organisation or the Transport Agency uses in-house staff resources to provide professional services for the delivery of road safety promotion activities, the total expenditure to be reflected in the funding assistance claim will be equal to the salary costs plus overhead costs, to be determined in a way that is consistent with generally accepted accounting practice.
Approved Organisations and the Transport Agency are required to document how the amount of funding assistance claimed has been determined.
