The New Zealand Transport Agency is in the final planning stages of upgrading the roundabout at the corner of SH6, SH60 and Bateup Road, locally known as Three Brothers Roundabout near, Richmond.
Extra lanes will be constructed on the State Highway approaches and exits and also through the roundabout, says Rob Whight, State Highways Manager, Wellington, for the NZ Transport Agency.
The improvements have been programmed to increase the capacity of the roundabout which is located about one kilometre south of the Richmond CBD on SH6. Tenders will be called for this work in July/August and construction will commence soon after that. It is expected that physical works will be completed by March 2011.
Roadusers can expect some delays during construction. Newspaper advertisements and public notices will be issued closer to the time detailing the impacts of delays and identification of suitable alternative routes.
