Currently all state highways in the north Auckland and Northland regions are open, however surface flooding remains in many areas and motorists are urged to take extreme care.
Four roads remain closed.
These are Pakiri Road and Whangaripo Valley Road. Both are being assessed now to determine if they can be opened.
Falls Road in Warkworth and Wayby Valley Road in Wellsford are still closed to traffic.
Matakana Valley Road is reduced to one lane at the intersection of Govan Wilson Road and Pakiri Road due to flooding.
Contractors are now assessing roads and carrying out repairs to potholes and minor slips.
The NZ Transport Agency is reminding motorists to drive to the conditions, slow down, and be aware of debris on the roads and that the very wet conditions may have changed the road surface in some places, opening potholes and causing minor slips.
Please also take extra care as you’re driving through areas where work teams are repairing roads.
