A section of State Highway 2 east of Ngatea near Hauraki Road has been closed following a crash earlier this morning. The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that the incident involved two trucks and the road will re-open once they have been removed.
NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) Acting State Highway Manager, Karen Boyt, says that at this stage it's not known how long the temporary closure will remain in place. "In the meantime there is a well-signed detour in place and some vehicles are being allowed through the site when possible."
"We will be working to have access restored through this section of SH2 as quickly as we can. We'd like to ask that motorists be patient during this time and plan their journeys around this situation to allow for short delays."
Ms Boyt says as soon as the road has reopened, the NZTA will advise motorists as soon as possible.
