Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is pleased to confirm that the Taipā Bridge has opened to two lanes in time for Labour Weekend, with contractors working hard to complete sealing work after delays cause by wet weather.
“Our contractors did a great job to overcome the challenges thrown at them by the weather, and we’re pleased holiday makers will have easier journeys this weekend as a result,” says NZ Transport Agency Director Regional Relationships Steve Mutton.
Traffic on the bridge will occasionally revert back to single lane operations following Labour Weekend, to allow for the completion of work including handrail cleaning, painting and timber fixing. This work is expected to be completed in early December.
