The NZ Transport Agency says access restrictions has now been eased on the Karangarua suspension Bridge south of Fox Glacier.
Transport Agency's Asset Manager, Mark Pinner says SH6 at this section is now open for light vehicles, campervans, coaches, light trucks - maximum 20tonne but further work is still required so overnight closure of this section of road is still required.
"We will still need overnight restrictions from 5pm to 7.30am so closure of this section of road will be in place for all vehicles," says Mr Pinner.
Mr Pinner says heavier vehicles 20tonnes plus should consider using alternative routes via the easy coast if travel absolutely essential.
"The 5pm to 7.30am restriction will cut off access from Wanaka in Central Otago via Haast Pass." Mr Pinner expects an update on when the restrictions will be lifted to be made later in the week.
The Transport Agency is encouraging drivers to take care this Easter/Anzac holidays, and where there are road conditions to keep up to date with the latest information via our 0800 4 HIGHWAYS Freephone number or visit our website to find out the latest on our highway conditions.
