The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that State Highway 16 is closed in both directions north of Kumeu due to a truck versus truck crash just before 8am this morning.
Westbound detours are in place via Foster Road and Trigg Road, for eastbound traffic the detour is at Matua Road.
There will be delays and motorists are advised to take extra care and avoid the area if possible.
Police, ambulance and the Fire Service are currently on site.
60 litres of diesel has spilled onto the motorway and it could take some time to clear the area.
