Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 1 is currently closed between Otene Road and Rotongaio Road at Waitahanui, approximately 6km south of Taupō Airport, due to a bush fire in the area.
Acting Waikato System Manager Rob Campbell says motorists are encouraged to delay their travel where possible or consider travelling down the western side of Lake Taupō.
