The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that SH2 at the Waimana Gorge (Taneatua to Opotiki) is closed to all traffic due to flooding in the Waimana River.
The road is expected to remain closed overnight.
A local road alternate route is available via Wainui Road to Ohope and Whakatane. Local roads may also be affected by flooding, and drivers are urged to use caution and avoid non-essential travel.
