State Highway 2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway is now open following an earlier crash.
The crash closed the section of expressway between the Links Road and Evenden Road roundabouts.
A detour was in place.
The road has now been cleared and the closure lifted.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi thanks road users for their patience during the closure and reminds people to drive to the conditions and expect possible delays as congestion eases.

A stretch of State Highway 2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway has closed this afternoon following a serious crash.
The crash, around 2.30pm, has closed the expressway between the Links Road and Evenden Road roundabouts.
Emergency crews are on the scene.
A detour is in place – please drive to the conditions.
Northbound traffic will be detoured right onto Evenden Road, left on to Pakowhai Road and left to rejoin the expressway. The reverse will apply for southbound vehicles.
