The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that State Highway 58 is closed between James Cook Drive and Joseph Banks Drive, Whitby due to flooding. Grays Road, a local road is also closed.
The combination of high tides and storm conditions have made road conditions unsafe. It is not known how long the road will be closed for, but the road is expected to re-open once the tide recedes.
