The New Zealand Transport Agency is starting work today on safety improvements at the intersection of State Highway 60 and Maisey/Westdale Roads in Nelson.
Regional Performance Manager Mark Owen says the improvements come after extensive consultation with the local community. “We identified a number of initiatives that would improve safety at this intersection and then sought feedback from the local community. Our aim throughout this process has been to identify workable solutions that would improve safety and could be implemented quickly.”
The improvements include:
Work starts today, Tuesday 26 April, and is expected to last two weeks, weather dependant. Road crews will be on site from 8am to 4:30pm each working day and a temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place through the work site at all times.
“We ask road users to cooperate and stick to the temporary speed limit - it’s there to keep both road users and our road crews safe,” says Mr Owen.
