The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that major roadworks on a section of State Highway 1 in northern Waikato begin on Tuesday 17 February and travellers can expect short delays.
A 1.5km north-bound stretch of SH1 between Hampton Downs Bridge and the Meremere dragway will be dug out and replaced. Traffic will be managed through the works under speed restrictions and lane diversions, with two-way flows at all times. Motorists are asked to allow a few extra minutes for their journeys.
Hours or work are 7am-7pm seven days a week with the aim to have all lanes open at night.
Work is expected to wrap up by 6 March. The Transport Agency thanks the public for their patience and understanding while this important work is carried out.
