The Transport Agency isn’t expecting any major disruptions from a $300,000 resurfacing job on State highway 88 between Dunedin and Ravensbourne that starts on Saturday, 8 December.
The resurfacing work starts about 100 metres on the Port Chalmers side of the Parry Street roundabout and continues through to the Ravensdown Fertiliser Works. Weather permitting the work should be completed by Wednesday 18 December.
Transport Agency Otago/Southland Highway Manager Ian Duncan says a consideration in working on Saturday and Sunday between 7am and 7pm was the fact that there aren’t any cruise ships scheduled to visit Dunedin this weekend. From Monday, 9 December, apart from a one day rest break for staff, the contractor will work at night, from 6pm to 6am until the job is completed.
Mr Duncan said there shouldn’t be issues with noise at night with few if any residential properties in the area where the work is being carried out. Throughout the job, a single traffic lane will be available, although road users can expect some short delays.”
During construction the road surface will be uneven with speed restrictions in place. Once this job is finished, road users can look forward to a much smoother driving surface he said.
If road users have any queries about this job they can phone 0800 44 44 49.
