The NZ Transport Agency will be closing SH20 overnight on Sunday 8 March to lift the final beams into place on the new Hastie Avenue footbridge as part of the SH20 Manukau Harbour Crossing project . The new bridge will provide a vital connection for pedestrians and cyclists over the motorway between Mangere Bridge and Mahunga Drive.
The NZ Transport Agency will be closing SH20 overnight on Sunday 8 March to lift the final beams into place on the new Hastie Avenue footbridge as part of the SH20 Manukau Harbour Crossing project . The new bridge will provide a vital connection for pedestrians and cyclists over the motorway between Mangere Bridge and Mahunga Drive.
Motorway lanes in both directions will be closed from 8pm on Sunday until 5am on Monday from under the Rimu Road overbridge to the Walmsley Road overbridge on the Southwestern Motorway (SH20).
Delays are possible so motorists travelling to and from Auckland International Airport are advised to leave extra time for their journey. Advance warning signs will be in place to give early notice of the closure and motorists should follow the signposted detour routes. These are via the Mahunga Drive off-ramp for southbound traffic and Coronation Road off-ramp for northbound traffic.
Also over the weekend, traffic heading southbound will be reduced to one lane from 7pm on Saturday 7 March until 9am on Sunday 8 March.
Overnight motorway closures are also proposed for Thursday 12 March and Sunday 15 March to install signage on the new Hastie Avenue footbridge and to demolish the old bridge.
