The NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 1 near Whakapara north of Hikurangi in Northland has re-opened after being closed for several hours by flood waters.
Both lanes of the highway are open.
State Highway 12 remains closed at Maitahi Bridge north of Dargaville. The NZTA says flood waters in the district are continuing to rise. Diversion routes are in place.
The NZTA's Regional Asset Manager, Steve Mutton, says all drivers should continue to take extreme care in Northland, drive to the conditions, and allow more time for their journeys so that they can reach their destinations safely.
