Important information for drivers.
Lower North Island
- Significant road rebuilding and drainage works are planned for State Highway 1 Raumati Straights early next month.
- Emergency works to repair an underslip on State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill continue. However, there has been a minor change to the schedule on Labour Day weekend - the route will remain open under stop/go on Sunday night. Planned closures will resume Monday night.
Top of the South Island

- Four weeks of road rebuilding work will begin on State Highway 6 near Owen River from next Monday. A daytime stop/go with a temporary speed limit of 30 km/h will be in place between 7 am and 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The temporary speed limits will remain in place, 24/7, including Labour Weekend, until the work is completed. Because there are multiple work sites between Nelson and Murchison, we recommend road users allow an extra 30 minutes when travelling this route.
- Six weeks of night closures are planned for a road rebuild at State Highway 6, Tunnicliff Bridge, Tasman. Work is due to begin 29 October.
