Important information for drivers.
Lower North Island
- Regular monthly tunnel maintenance will be underway in the Wellington CBD next week. The Terrace Tunnel will be closed on Monday night, the Mt Victoria Tunnel on Tuesday night, and the Arras Tunnel on Wednesday night. Closures will run between 9 pm and 4:30 am. Drivers must use alternate routes and should allow extra time for their journeys.
- Looking ahead, lighting upgrade work and night closures will resume for The Terrace Tunnel from 16 June.
- Directional night closures continue until 13 June on State Highway 2 near Petone for safety barrier works, and safety improvements continue at State Highway 2/Hebden Crescent in the Hutt Valley
- On the Kāpiti Coast, tree felling and culvert repairs will be carried out on Old State Highway 1 near Te Horo
- Night closures begin this Sunday for State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill for maintenance work and changes to slow vehicle lanes on the route. There will also be day works from 10 June for rockfall protection work near the summit.
- In Wairarapa, the Tauwharenīkau Bridge on State Highway 53 remains closed to traffic 24/7 until its repairs are completed later this month. Road rehabilitation works are also underway on State Highway 2 in Carterton.
Top of the South Island
- Initial works begin on Monday on a new roundabout near Blenheim airport on on State Highway 6 Blenheim – Renwick.
- Overnight closures have been extended for safety barrier works on State Highway 60 Ruby Bay
- Work is underway on improvements to the Whakatu Coastal Pathway section of the Great Taste Cycle Trail in Nelson alongside State Highway 6, Whakatu Drive.
- Drivers heading through Motueka on State Highway 60/High Street can expect to see road closures from 16-27 June as the Tasman District Council carries out stormwater upgrades. Local road detours will be available. The northbound traffic detour is via King Edward Street, Queen Victoria Street, and along Whakarewa Street. Southbound traffic detour via Tudor Street to Thorp Street and along Old Wharf Road.
