The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to delay their travel this evening heading north of Auckland due to the closure of State Highway 1 between Warkworth and Silverdale.
The road is closed due to an earlier crash. A large crane is currently on site removing the vehicle but this may still take some time.
Detours are in place via State Highway 16 but traffic is now heavy and it’s currently taking up to an hour for vehicles to travel between Constellation Drive and the Silverdale off ramp where the northbound diversion begins.
The Transport Agency asks people to delay any non-essential travel or allow plenty of time for their journeys.
