Cook River Bridge, just south of Fox Glacier on State Highway 6, will close to all traffic for two consecutive nights next week for general maintenance work.
The bridge will close at midnight on Tuesday 11 February until 5am on Wednesday 12 February and again at midnight on Wednesday 12 February to 5am on Thursday 13 February for work to be carried out on the deck and hanger rods of the suspension bridge.
Mr Pinner says the bridge will open every hour on the hour for 10 minutes to clear any queued traffic.
"The Transport Agency apologises in advance for any inconveniences caused by the closures," he says.
