You must have a driver’s consent before you can inquire on their driver licence.
Consent to access my information in Driver Check [PDF, 50 KB]
The system will check and confirm that the driver licence number matches the driver you’ve named, to make sure you see the correct information for that driver.
An inquiry links into the Driver Licence Register (not your driver list). Only licences issued in New Zealand are on the register.
A search on Driver Check will show:
You can inquire using the full name and date of birth of the driver. The details must relate to a unique driver, meaning there’s only one person who has that name and date of birth on the Driver Licence Register.
CloseYou must have a driver’s consent before you add them to Driver Check.
Consent to access my information in Driver Check [PDF, 50 KB]
You can only add one driver at a time.
We’ll send your organisation administrator an automatic notification if the status of the driver licence changes.
Note: if the licence has expired or is suspended/disqualified when you add a driver to your list, we won’t be able to let you know. The system only picks up when the licence status changes. We recommend you check the current driver licence status after you've added the driver to your list.
CloseYou can only remove one driver at a time.
You must remove a driver from your Driver Check account if:
You’ll see a list of your drivers and their licence statuses. Click their name or driver licence number to inquire on that licence.
You should be able to open the file with Notepad or a similar program. Most systems have a standard program that can read .txt files.
The list includes the driver licence holder's full name, driver licence number and driver licence status.
CloseWe’ll send automatic notifications if the driver licence status for anyone on your operator list changes.
You can list up to 10 email addresses on your account. If you’d like to change who receives these notifications, email:
Our systems update overnight, and we send you notifications the next day.
Some notifications may take a little bit longer. For example, when a police officer suspends or disqualifies a driver, we update the Driver Licence Register once the police have let us know. Then we send your notification the next day.
