The NZ Transport Agency is looking at the viability of allowing electric vehicles access to special vehicle lanes on the state highway network. This work supports the Government’s package to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles in New Zealand, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In 2016, the NZ Transport Agency sought input and views on the Auckland Electric Vehicles Trial Bylaw 2017. Following consideration of the feedback, it was decided that the two week trial would go ahead, allowing electric vehicles access to five specified priority bypass lanes from 6 to 20 March 2017.
In late 2016, the NZ Transport Agency welcomed input and views on a proposed bylaw to allow electric vehicles access to six priority bypass lanes in Auckland from 6 to 20 March 2017.
