[Text] Early on March 25th, local residents and keen riders form further afield came by the hundreds, on foot and wheels, to celebrate the completion of their newest local route. |

[Text] Section 2 of the Glen Innes to Tāmaki Drive shared path stretches almost 3km through the pristine Pourewa Valley, over the eastern rail line, and connects with the Ōrakei Basin boardwalk. |

I'm thrilled to be here for this project, this morning. We do have a lot of residents here. People who live in this community, this project is all about you, and it's about giving you better transport choices for generations to come. |

[Text] It's the longest of the four sections, connecting Sections 1 & 3, which are already completed. The community can now enjoy an uninterrupted 5km stretch along this shared path. |

I'm so excited! This has been years and years in the making. The most expensive section of the GL to Tamaki Drive shared path, and we're finally open. |

This pathway is going to connect the community in so many different ways. And it's also going to mean a lot of different things, to a lot of different people as well. |

It is so exciting to get the kids out learning how to ride bikes on a safe area, that's reasonably flat but also quite fun, and it's really exciting to get access to the other side of the railway station too. |

The really cool thing is that it is a major connection for us. We really enjoy our cycling, and to get home from the city we can do it almost all off-road now, so it's fantastic. |
