Work category 211: Unsealed road metalling - guidance

Introduction

This work category provides for the planned periodic renewal of pavement layers, including top surface metal, on unsealed roads.

This definition applies to the 2012-15 NLTP.  For the 2015-18 NLTP please refer to the updated definition for work category 211.

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

• Planned periodic renewal of pavement layers, including top surface metal, on unsealed roads for the purpose of either:
  • replacing wearing course aggregate, or
  • restoring pavement strength.

Other potential activities that are not in the above list should be discussed with the NZTA for eligibility.

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate is:

• the Approved Organisation’s base rate
• the Approved Organisation’s special purpose roads rate, and
• 100 percent for the NZTA (state highways).
