Work category 212: Sealed road resurfacing

 

Introduction

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
provides for the planned periodic resurfacing of sealed roads.

 

This definition applies to the 2012-15 NLTP A National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities. adopted by the NZTA under section 19 of the LTMA, as from time to time amended or varied .  For the 2015-18 NLTP please refer to the updated definition for work category 212.

 

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • conventional maintenance chip reseals
  • second coat seals, except on sub-division roads
  • asphaltic surfacing not exceeding 40 mm average depth
  • void-filling seal coats
  • texturing seals
  • emulsified bitumen seals commonly known as ‘slurry seals’
  • milling old surface and resurfacing not exceeding 40 mm average depth
  • other approved special-purpose chip seals
  • raising service covers and reinstatement of pavement The road structure that is constructed on the subgrade and supports the traffic loading. markings and raised pavement markers as a result of resurfacing.

 

Other potential activities that are not in the above list should be discussed with the NZTA for eligibility.

 

Exclusions

This work category A type of activity – not confined to a particular activity class, e.g. new roads (work category 323) appears in:

* activity class 12 – local road improvements
* activity class 13 – state highways improvements
excludes:

  • The cost of any pavement The road structure that is constructed on the subgrade and supports the traffic loading. repairs preparatory to carrying out resurfacing – this is funded under Work category 111: Sealed pavement maintenance.
  • The second coat sealing of sub-divisional roads – this is deemed to be part of sub-divisional construction and does not qualify for funding assistance.
  • Surfacing exceeding 40 mm average depth – this is funded under Work category 214: Pavement rehabilitation.
