Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is working closely with Te Araroa Trust to improve safety and the walking experience where New Zealand’s long pathway interacts with our state highway network.
We are reviewing Te Araroa safety issues and where possible, programming improvements like re-routing, shoulder-widening, access and crossing improvements, or developing off-road facilities as part of our road safety improvements program, business as usual activities, and where applicable, developing alongside investment in key cycling facilities such as Nga Haerenga, The New Zealand Cycle Trail (including Great Rides and Heartland Rides) as well as urban cycleways.
