Birds eye view of the safety improvements on Bureta Road and Vale Street
In September 2023, Tauranga City Council finished construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Bureta Road and Vale Street, as well as raised pedestrian crossings, cycle road markings and upgraded footpaths.
With a busy supermarket as well as a new retirement home nearby, the intersection caused concern for people walking in the area—particularly the elderly. Since the improvements have been made, the community can now move about safely, however they decide to travel.
